In 2021, with funding from IBERMUSICAS, nine Latin American women flutists founded flautalatinoamerica.com, a collaborative network that promotes the sharing of knowledge and experiences between flutists, composers and researchers, with an emphasis on Latin America. Our first project: An online database of flute repertory by Latin American composers. Already containing over 2000 works, the database is fully searchable by composer, title, instrumentation, country, gender, etc. Not only does it feature works by well-established Latin American composers from Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba and Peru, it also contains works by the emerging, younger generation. The aim of the database is to set up a collaborative site that is constantly updated by performers and composers alike. Even though it does not sell scores, it will provide information regarding publishers and/or composer contacts.
This website will not sell sheet music, it will only acknowledge its existence, beacause this is a collective work that comes to life with the contribution of all of us who feel the usefulness of generating a common good. So we invite composers, performers, and collaborators to submit works to be included.
